Aug. 30, 2010
PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University Director of Athletics Bill Moos announced Monday that former Cougar football player Tony Thompson has rejoined the Cougar family as Assistant to the Director - Student-Athlete Relations. Thompson will begin his duties Sept. 1.
"Tony has a great work ethic and will not only be a great resource for our current student-athletes, but he will do a wonderful job reconnecting with past Cougars and keeping them involved as we move forward," said Moos. "Tony epitomizes what we want from our student-athletes: to come into our program and grow physically, emotionally, athletically and socially. Upon graduation we want our student-athletes to leave having made a positive impact on Washington State University and the Pullman community."
Additionally, Moos announced that Debbie Nankivell will become Executive Assistant to the Director of Athletics. Nankivell had previously worked alongside Moos the entire 12 years he served as Director of Athletics at the University of Oregon.,P>
"Debbie is someone I have worked with for many years and have a great deal of respect for her talents," Moos continued. "She is a great addition to the Cougar family and immediately makes us a stronger department."
Moos also revealed a few position changes among his senior staff. Mike Marlow, who last week was named a senior associated athletic director following 12 years at the Oregon, will oversee WSU's External Relations units, including fundraising, marketing, sports information, sports video and ticket sales. Senior Associate Athletic Director John Johnson is shifting attention from external relations to overseeing facility projects for the WSU Athletics Department. Johnson will focus on capital planning, facility improvements and maintenance, project and event management, along with coordinating the Cougars' postseason participation.
