PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University will induct an eight-member class into the WSU Athletic Hall of Fame Sept. 21-22, 2012, Director of Athletic s Bill Moos announced Friday. In addition, two teams have also been selected for induction.

The honorees will join the current 159 members of the WSU Athletic Hall of Fame during campus ceremonies Sept. 21-22. Tickets to the induction ceremony dinner are $60 each. For more information, contact Jake Bredstrand at 509-335-6709 or jacob.bredstrand@email.wsu.edu.

The induction dinner begins at 6 p.m. on September 21 at the Compton Union Building Ballroom and will be preceeded by a 5 p.m. social in the same location.

The list of six contemporary (men since 1970, women since 1985) inductees are:

Isaac Fontaine (basketball) - Washington State's all-time scoring leader with 2,003 points...finished his career 12th on the Pacific-10 Conference career scoring list...was a two-time All-Pac-10 first team selection...WSU's Pac-10 medal recipient in 1997...after WSU had stints in the NBA and played professionally in Italy.
Samson Kimombwa (track & field) - Garnered a total of nine All-America certificates from 1975-80...captured the 1977 NCAA 10,000m outdoor title, the same year he broke the world record for the event in a time of 27:31.47 at the World Games in Helsinki... won three conference titles and had eight NCAA top five finishes in his career.
Kim Lynass (soccer) - WSU's all-time leader in goals (80) and points scored (177)...single-season mark of 30 goals in 1990 ranked third and 1.50 goals per game ranked fourth in all-time NCAA records...continues to hold school top four season marks in goals and points...NCAA Far West All-America First Team (1993) and Pac-10 All-Academic (1993).
Steve Ostermann (football) - Three-year starter at guard for the Cougars...three-time All-Pacific-8 Conference first-team selection...named to the All-West Coast first team by both Associated Press and United Press International following junior season...selected for Hula Bowl after his senior campaign...received WSU's Laurie Niemi Award for courage, spirit and humility.
Jenni Ruff (basketball) - Finished her Cougar career among numerous top 10 lists, including second in points scored (1,526) and third in rebounds (727)...senior year scored a school-record 41 points against California and set Pac-10 records with 203 free throws and 261 free throw attempts...All-Pac-10 first team and Kodak (WBCA) and Associated Press honorable mention All-America.
Gabriel Tiacoh (track & field) - Spent three years in Pullman, arriving after two years at the University of Paris...captured the silver medal in the 400m at the 1984 Olympics after his sophomore season...three-time Pac-10 champion in same event...captured the NCAA title as a senior, running school- and meet-record time of 44.30.

The inductee list includes two pioneers (men before 1970, women before 1985) who were true trailblazers in their respective Cougar careers:

Jack Fanning - Played football and ran track for the Cougars from 1955-60... career football totals were 45 receptions for 714 yards, along with a 15.9 per catch average... led the nation in TD receptions with nine in 1957, same season he caught a school-record three TD passes against Nebraska...competed as a pole vaulter in track.
Bud Roffler - Earned three varsity letters in football and two in baseball...two-way player on the gridiron, scoring team-best nine touchdowns as a senior...during career accounted for touchdowns rushing, passing receiving, returning both kickoffs and punts...senior year led baseball team in hits, batting average, RBI and doubles.

The Cougar teams being inducted include the 1950 baseball squad that reach the NCAA title game and the 1977 indoor track team that captured the NCAA Indoor title.

The hall of fame was chartered in 1978, at the directive of then-WSU President Glenn Terrell and WSU Athletic Director Sam Jankovich.
