A Decade of Excellence: 2007-08
WSU earns 117 selections to Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic teams. That figure represented the most student-athletes to earn such an honor during an academic year in school history. Football's cumulative team grade point average of 2.73 following the spring of 2008 is the highest ever achieved by the program. Men's Basketball earns back-to-back berths to NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history; advances further in the tournament than ever before with a Sweet 16 appearance; ends season with 26 wins for the second straight year. Ebba Jungmark wins the women's high jump at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Rowing earns fourth team appearance at NCAA Championships in six years, finishing eighth. Tennis earns at-large berth to NCAA Championships, the first for the program since 2002; Ekaterina Burduli earns singles championship berth. Jeshua Anderson wins 400m hurdles at NCAA Championships, as well as NCAA West Regional and Pac-10 Championships; named Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year. Robbie Cowgill named Pac-10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's basketball. Jayson Miller named Pac-10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year for baseball. WSU hosts NCAA Women's Basketball West Regional at Spokane Arena.
