Located on Colorado Street across from Bohler Gym, the Lower Soccer Field has been the home of the women's soccer team since the program's inception in 1989. Before 1989, the facility was used for intramural sports and the women's field hockey team.

The WSU soccer team has consistently been one of the top programs in the NCAA. In 2011, the school attendance record for a single game exceeded 1,600 fans.

During soccer matches, students from the overlooking Scott Hall gather on the dorm's decks to watch the match, making the venue a unique setting.

The Lower Soccer Field has always provided the Cougars a home-field advantage. During the 1990 and 1991 seasons, head coach Lisa Fraser's squads compiled a 13-match home winning streak. In 11 different seasons dating back to 1989, the team has won more than 50 percent of its home matches. In all, the program has won nearly 62 percent of the matches played on its home turf.

In 2011, the attendance record for a WSU soccer game was broken twice. On August 28, 1,273 fans watched the Cougars defeat Seattle, 1-0. On October 14, 1,652 boisterous fans watched WSU play to a scoreless draw against No. 4 UCLA.
