| Moderator: Bill, thank you for joining us today. |
Bill Moos: Welcome fellow Cougars. Looking forward to an opportunity to answer your questions about Cougar Athletics. Here we go! |
| Sam: Dear Mr. Moos: In your opinion, what would the optimal seating capacity of the football stadium be in the next 5 to 10 years? |
Bill Moos: Sam, ideally the capacity of Martin Stadium would grow to 45,000-50,000 because hopefully we will need a facility of that size to accommodate our fan base. |
| Cougar Lance (Olympia): I've been hearing lately through various sources that the new FB complex has been scaled down ... can you elaborate on this? Thanks ~ |
Bill Moos: Lance, unnecessary square footage has been eliminated, but in my opinion, this will not affect the efficiency of the football operations building. |
| Todd (Vancouver): Bill,
Is there still going to be a "Donor Scroll" for those of us that donated a minimum amount to the Martin Stadium Renovation? |
Bill Moos: Todd, the plan at this time is to recognize those who have donated to the football facilities project. We are still looking at a variety of options but feel it is important that we show our appreciation to those who have helped. |
| Bryon (Tacoma): When will we get to know which uniform won the fan voting for Saturday's game? |
Bill Moos: Bryon, offering the involvement of our fans in choosing the Cougars uniform for Homecoming has been an absolute hit. Those who voted, along with all Cougar fans, will learn of that outcome when the Cougars take the field on Gameday. |
| Lars (Bellevue): Bill I have a question about the Pac 12 Washington Regional Network. Are we assured to get a 50/50 split of programming time between us and UW? |
Bill Moos: Lars, my understanding is that all 12 conference members will have exposure through the Pac-12 Network. That is unprecedented. The Washington region of the Pac-12 Network will offer maximum opportunities for the fans of both Washington and Washington State to view their respective school's competitions. |
| Scott MacPherson (Pullman): Where do you see our athletic programs in 10 years and what steps have been taken to make that vision a reality? |
Bill Moos: Scott, it is my hope that the blueprint we are following in regards to intercollegiate athletics at Washington State will have us in a position to be competitive in all of our sport programs. In order to get there, however, it will be imperative that we invest in facilities and increase our budget in order for us to realize success. |
| Doug (Pullman): Will we be unveiling dark charcoal grey uniforms this year? There have been rumors online |
Bill Moos: Doug, that possibility could exist. Stay tuned. |
| Joshua Duin: Bill, when are we going to see numbers like 8 11 14 16 17 45 61 :) (I'm sure I'm missing some) in a place of honor in side Martin stadium? Perhaps on the stadium side of the new football only building? |
Bill Moos: Joshua, recognizing former Cougar greats is part of our plan to honor the past. How and where we do so continues to be a topic of discussion. |
| Jake Bonney Lake: Hey Bill I really like whats going on with the football team and hope Paul Wulff gets a couple years to see this thing out. I was just curious about how the stadium rennovation is going and also if you know how many tickets have been sold for the Oregon State game. |
Bill Moos: Jake, it appears to me that Cougar Football is improving. Fan involvement is critical for our program to succeed. I hope that you will be in attendance at CenturyLink Field along with what we expect to be an impressive crowd. The football facilities project is progressing nicely. |
| Kyle(olympia): Would you ever consider going to texas and playing in the jerry dome against a top ten sec school like oregon did? |
Bill Moos: Kyle, my hope is that Cougar Football evolves to the point where we might be considered for a game like that. I then would have to weigh the pros and cons of that kind of opportunity. |
| Coug Supporter: Bill - what do you feel is an acceptable Athletic Annual Budget number to be competing at the top of the Pac-12 conference? |
Bill Moos: For Washington State Athletics to be fully staffed, realize competitive salaries, and to continue to invest in facilities, an annual budget of somewhere around $60 million would be necessary in my opinion. In order for us to realize this number it will require a dramatic increase in our donor base as well as our football season ticket sales. |
| Theresa (Richland): AD Moos - What are some of the innovative steps being taken to build the Cougar fanbase? Particularly in regards to getting fans to Pullman to fill our expanded stadium? |
Bill Moos: Theresa, our strategy is to grow our fan base from the inside out, beginning with student and Pullman community participation. Spokane is a must as is your community in the Tri-Cities. Of the four Northwest schools in the Pac-12, three depend on fans traveling two to two and a half hours to get to their venues. Two of them are currently seeing success in that regard and one is not. At this time, we are that one. |
| Rick: What do you have planned to get more involvement from the Spokane area for WSU sports, whether it be attendance or recruiting? I live outside the area |
Bill Moos: Rick, Spokane is critical for Cougar Athletics seeing success. It is the second largest city in the state of Washington and has proven to be a fantastic sports town. There is a large number of Cougar alumni in the area that we hope, if they are not already involved with our program, will soon want to join the Cougar Family. To date, we have put a great deal of energy into having a presence in Spokane with the weekly football luncheons, a designated "Spokane Week" in the spring culminating with our football spring scrimmage at Joe Albi Stadium, along with my weekly radio call-in show. This adds up to a strong beginning to what I hope will be a fabulous relationship between Cougar Athletics and the Lilac City. |
| Dean (Auburn): Any chance games in Pullman will be scheduled for Thursday nights in the coming seasons? I hope not as it will be difficult for west-siders to attend (I'm a season ticket holder). |
Bill Moos: Dean, all Pac-12 institutions will play on Thursday or Friday nights an average of once every two years beginning in 2012. That could be at home or on the road. This was one of the concessions needed in order for the conference to sign the most lucrative television deal in the history of college sports. Though I hate to see our fans inconvenienced, I do feel it's a small price to pay for the incredible increase that we will see in television revenue. |
| Moderator: Okay, that's all the time we have. Bill, thank you for joining us once again. |
Bill Moos: I thank all those who submitted questions and I'm sorry I could not get to them all. I appreciate your interest and encourage all of you to support Cougar Athletics, as I truly feel we are in an upward trend. I hope to see you on campus for Homecoming Weekend and in Seattle next week. All the best and Go Cougs! |
| Moderator: Please join us Thursday at 3 p.m. for a chat with Men's Basketball Coach Ken Bone. Go Cougs! |
