Cougar Prowl

| 1 Comment | No TrackBacks
We have a name for the new Cougar Football tradition established two weeks ago!

What was previously known as the "Cougar Pride Walk," will now forever be known as "Cougar Prowl." Congratulations to Dave Teitzel, who was among 24 fans who submitted "Cougar Prowl" in the Name the Team Walk contest.

Teitzel was randomly selected by Butch T. Cougar as the winner of a football autographed by the WSU Football team. More than 100 people submitted ideas, and a committee consisting of athletic department staff and football representatives chose "Cougar Prowl" as the name for the team walk.

"Cougar Prowl" will begin Saturday at 9:45 a.m. at the Cougar Pride statue, located next to the WSU Athletics Ticket Office on Stadium Way. The Cougar football players and coaches, the WSU marching band and spirit squad, and Butch walk from the Cougar Pride Statue to the Hollingbery Fieldhouse. Thank you to everyone who participated in the contest. Go Cougs!

The CougarMania Strength and Conditioning Complex underwent a renovation during the spring. The student-athletes began working out in newly renovated complex in early June and the positive effects have already been demonstrated, according to Strength and Conditioning Director David Lang.

"The impact of this renovation affects all of our student-athletes," says Lang, who emphasizes that they can now better train athletes to what their specific sport demands. "We can safely and effectively train up to six teams at one time and up to 130 athletes on the first floor alone."
