Honoring WSU Senior Student-Athletes

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Washington State University Commencement Ceremony is Saturday. Throughout this week we will be highlighting our senior student-athletes class of 81 student-athletes who, combined, have an average 3.00 GPA in a wide-range of majors. Today is baseball student-athlete Adam Nelubowich.

"The fact that you come into a community that's based around the university is a good feeling. You go off campus and everyone is a Coug. You're surrounded by people who are working toward the same thing. It's really cool. Being a Coug is something you don't plan on. It's not a community you saw yourself joining, but it's a community and environment that you always see yourself being a part of. It just happens to you. You don't plan on bleeding crimson, but it happens, and it's a great feeling."

Interview with John Olerud

Washington State University will retire John Olerud's uniform No. 18 prior to its March 30 (noon start time) game against Stanford at Bailey-Brayton Field.

In May 2011, Olerud sat down with me for a feature in the Winter 2011 edition of Washington State Magazine. The story focuses on Olerud's recovery from a brain aneurysm while at WSU, his faith, and how he applied that faith to a medical challenge with his daughter Jordan, who was born with a chromosome disorder.

Many more topics were discussed during the interview, including memories of playing for legendary coach Bobo Brayton, flirting with .400 with the Toronto Blue Jays during the 1993 season, and the Seattle Mariners' historic 2001 campaign.
