What was previously known as the "Cougar Pride Walk," will now forever be known as "Cougar Prowl." Congratulations to Dave Teitzel, who was among 24 fans who submitted "Cougar Prowl" in the Name the Team Walk contest.
Teitzel was randomly selected by Butch T. Cougar as the winner of a football autographed by the WSU Football team. More than 100 people submitted ideas, and a committee consisting of athletic department staff and football representatives chose "Cougar Prowl" as the name for the team walk.
"Cougar Prowl" will begin Saturday at 9:45 a.m. at the Cougar Pride statue, located next to the WSU Athletics Ticket Office on Stadium Way. The Cougar football players and coaches, the WSU marching band and spirit squad, and Butch walk from the Cougar Pride Statue to the Hollingbery Fieldhouse. Thank you to everyone who participated in the contest. Go Cougs!

Love the Cougar Prowl! A little feedback for you:
I enjoyed being there at the Cougar Prowl and shaking hands with Wulff and lots of the players. I would say that my only feedback would be to remove the section of concrete where they have to walk up and over a 1 foot lip and then step down onto a wooden step before getting back onto the sidewalk. Don't cut out that entire thing (it makes a nice bench to sit on) just the corner where the team crosses over it. Clearly the plaza wasn't intended for people to walk that direction. Either cut out that step up or, even better, make it into a downward sloping ramp towards the sidewalk. And to make it even better, put in crimson-colored tiles in the the shape of paw prints, that guide the way along the route. That way people know where the walk goes and can line up accordingly. I really hope this gets bigger and better. Keep promoting it and it will catch on--especially when we're competing for Rose Bowls!!
