PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State goalkeeper Katie Hultin was named to the Soccer Buzz 2004 Elite Team of the Week for the week of October 20, 2004. Hultin received the honor for her two shutout performances over No. 8 UCLA (1-0) and No. 22 USC (2-0) last weekend.
The junior keeper led the Cougars to their first ever season sweep of both Southern California Pacific-10 Conference foes. She faced 33 shots, recording 14 saves, nine against the Bruins and five, all in the second half, against the Trojans. Hultin led the Cougars to their first shutout over UCLA since 1994 and against USC since 1998 while recording her fifth and sixth scoreless performances of the season.
Hultin also earned the Pac-10 Player of the Week honor for the second time this season following her performances last week.
Also named to the team were San Diego State's Jen Klunder, Princeton's Esmeralda Negron, Portland's Christine Sinclair, Cal State Fullerton's Kandace Wilson, Delaware's Shannon Alger, North Carolina's Lori Chalupny, Wisconsin's Kara Kabellis, Illinois' Sarah Brown, Tennessee's Keeley Dowling and Virginia's Jamie Fabrizio
The Cougars travel to the Beaver State to play Oregon at 7 p.m. Friday and Oregon State at noon Sunday.
