Men's Cross Country Sweeps Idaho Invitational

MOSCOW, Idaho. - The Washington State men's cross country team dominated competitors from Portland State and Idaho, capturing the top six times en route to two wins at the Idaho Invitational in Moscow, Idaho Friday.

Sophomore Oscar Franco-Parra captured first place in 20:27.5, edging freshman Ian Johnson by two-tenths of a second and freshman John Welsh by four-tenths. WSU knocked off Portland State 15-49, and dropped Idaho 15-50.

Jeremy Park of Portland State was the only non-WSU NCAA competitor to finish in the top-11, clocking in at 21:13 for eighth place.

On the women's side, the Cougars' Megan Maynard finished first in 14:34, beating Idaho's Zsanett Taveli by two seconds. Alishia Booterbaugh finished sixth in 15:04 and Jaime Miller captured 10th in 15:31 for the Cougars, but WSU dropped dual races with both Idaho and Portland Sate, 24-31 and 25-30 respectively.
