The Washington State soccer team will play Gonzaga at noon and Eastern Washington at 3:00 p.m., in the third annual Mom's Weekend Roundup, Saturday, April 17.
The event will begin with a 10:00 a.m. game featuring Idaho, the fourth team in the friendly tournament, playing the Eagles and will end at 5:00 p.m., with Gonzaga playing Idaho.
The Roundup will be the third event the Cougars have played this spring, having played two matches in Walla Walla against Montana and Boise State March 6, and Seattle Pacific and Oregon State April 3, at SPU.
WSU beat both Montana and Boise State March 6.
"The games in Walla Walla gave us a good foundation to take into the spring," WSU Head Coach Matt Potter said. "I would like to thank our hosts in Walla Walla for allowing us to be part of the event. We had a great day, coming away with two valuable games under our belt and although our spring goals are clear, the atmosphere is always better with a win."
April 3, the Cougars came away with a win and a tie, beating Pacific-10 rival, Oregon State 1-0 and finishing a 0-0 draw with Seattle Pacific.
"The weekend, as expected, provided us with two tough opponents," Potter said about the April 3 games. "To come out of those games with a win and a tie made for a solid weekend. It was nice to see aspects of the spring practices being translated into the games. The overall efforts of the players are being rewarded as the fixtures begin to come together, allowing us to move forward in our learning. We are clearly finding answers to questions that will help us in the future, as they relate to the team and the players."
The Cougars last spring games will be played during the weekend of April 24-25 in the Annual 7-A-Side Tournament.
