Final Stats

Seattle, Wash. - Washington State junior guard Katie Appleton hit her 100th career 3-pointer Sunday, but the Cougars fell to Washington 84-40 at Bank of America Arena. WSU dropped to 3-18 on the season and 0-10 in the Pacific-10 Conference, while the Huskies improved to 9-13 overall and 4-6 in conference play.

Appleton, who scored a team-high 14 points, became just the seventh Cougar in school history to post 100 career 3-point field goals. Appleton now has 30 career double-digit scoring outings, 12 of which have come this season.

The Huskies led wire-to-wire after opening the game with a 9-0 run.

"Our players really battled in the second half," WSU Head Coach June Daugherty said. "The intensity on defense was a big step for us."

Freshman guard Kezia Kelly and freshman forward Katie Calderwood each led the Cougars with five rebounds.

The game with the Huskies marked the first time Daugherty returned to Bank of America Arena since taking over the Cougar program. Daugherty, who coached at Washington for 11 seasons, received a standing ovation when her name was announced prior to the game.

"I never remember seeing so much crimson in the stands," Daugherty said. "Our fans are great. I really want to thank them for coming out."

Daugherty will speak at the Women Take Heart Breakfast in Seattle, Monday. The event, sponsored by the Hope Heart Institute, kicks off at 7 a.m., with a mini health fair at the Bell Harbor Conference Center (Pier 66). Tickets are $25. For more information contact Michele at 425-456-8706.
