PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University women's rowing teamed up with the National Association of Letter Carriers it collected food for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, Saturday, May 7 at both Wal-Mart and Dissmores IGA stores of Pullman.
The rowers collected over 850 pounds of items, as well as over $150. Food collected will remain locally at the Pullman Food Bank, a division of Pullman Child Welfare.
The NALC's Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place nationally Saturday, May 14 for 14 hours. Due to next weekend's Pacific-10 Conference Championships, WSU rowing did its part for the cause last weekend. All food collected by the Cougars will contribute to the amount gathered by the Pullman letter carriers this weekend.
This is the 11th year the Pullman letter carriers will participate in the drive. Last year more than 6,000 pounds of food were collected, with more than 1,000 pounds coming from the rowing team's collections.
