ST. CATHARINES, Ontario - Washington State University women's rowing rising-seniors Justine Galbraith and Lisa Roman helped lead the St. Catharines Rowing Club senior women eight boat to the gold at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta Thursday.
Both Galbraith (Fonthill, Ontario) and Roman (Langley, B.C.) were a part of the St. Catharines Rowing Club's senior women eight boat that finished the course in a time of 6:26.69, two seconds ahead of second-place Don Rowing Club.
The Henley gold capped an undefeated season for St. Catharines Rowing Club. The victory also ended a 28-year drought at the Henley Regatta and halted a four-year winning streak by the Vesper Boat Club. Vesper entered the final with the faster heat time, but finished third with a time of 6:30.35.
Erika Jorgensen (Orland, Calif.), who finished her WSU career in 2010 was a part of the Penn Athletic Club's senior women eight crew that finished fifth in the event.
