PULLMAN, Wash. - Senior Allison Scurich converted a second half penalty kick into to the game-winning goal as Washington State defeated Oregon State 2-1 in Pacific-10 10 women's soccer Sunday at Lower Soccer Field.

The No. 27 (Soccer Buzz) Cougars (10-2-3, 3-1-1 Pac-10) were awarded the penalty kick when sophomore Kiersten Dallstream was taken down in the box by Oregon State (7-8-2, 0-5-1) goalkeeper Caitlin Seeley. Scurch's shot beat Seeley in the lower right corner for her fourth goal of the season at the 80:15 mark.

Washington State stretched its unbeaten streak at home to six matches dating back to last season, the Cougars longest since a seven-match winning streak in Pullman during the 1994 campaign.

"Sunday games are more tactical and slower than Friday games," Cougar Head Coach Matt Potter said. "We certainly made it hard for ourselves today, but we were able to rebound for the win. Anytime you can come through a weekend without a loss at this point in the season is a very positive result."

Oregon State grabbed a 1-0 lead at 21:50 when Jodie Taylor took a pass from Rachael Axon at 20 yards out on the right side and buried the ball in the upper right hand corner of the goal for her 13th tally of the season.

The Cougars answered 24 seconds later on senior Brooke Bemis's eighth goal of the season. Sophomore Carly Dobratz played the ball into the center of the box from the right side and Bemis headed past Seeley from five yards out.

Washington State controlled the game for most of the match outshooting Oregon State 23-10 and holding a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Cougars travel to the Bay Area for matches against California (Friday, Nov. 2 at 3:30 p.m.) and Stanford (Sunday, Nov. 4 at noon). Both the Golden Bears and Cardinal are nationally-ranked.
