Washington State Quotes:
WSU Head Coach Ken Bone
On Klay Thompson handling the ball...
"He did a good job. He's getting better and better at handling the ball and distributing it. We're going to need him and other guys to do that. He can't be the only one because we need him to shoot it too. He needs to be able to distribute the ball but at the same time look to score."
On facing adversity...
"They shut it back down to two or three and we came right back. Last year there were games where we didn't deal with that type of adversity very well. It's a step in the right direction."
On finding others to score...
"Faisal's that one guy that can definitely score it and he's not shy about doing it. Then Patrick Simon, he's a good shooter. Tonight he not only made shots, he created opportunities for himself by getting to the basket. He has a good feel for the game and knows how to score."
WSU Junior Guard Klay Thompson
"It was a good game. We didn't play as good as we should have on defense, but we executed on offense and scored 88 points, so that's pretty good."
On handling adversity...
"I think we handled it well because we pushed the lead to nine and I didn't think they got much closer. That was good for us to go through a game like that, rather than blow them out. They're pretty good. That was fun, better playing that kind of game then beating a team by 40."
On taking over ball handling duties...
"I don't think it's too tough because I've grown up handling the ball and making plays. I'm just getting back to my old ways a little bit instead of just running off screens and being one-dimensional. It shows how versatile I can be. It's more fun playing that way."
"We're really excited to go over to Seattle and play in KeyArena. It's always really fun. Both years I've done it have been two of my favorite games. We know Portland's a big team so we need to tone our rebounding team, because we got outrebounded tonight. We just need to work on that for next week."
Junior Guard Faisal Aden
On getting too confident shooting well early...
"There's nothing wrong with the ball going in the hole, but we kind of were excited about scoring so much that we kind of took breaks on the defensive end and that hurt us a little bit. But we did a good job in the second half of tightening up our defense and coming together."
