FIRST GLANCE
The Washington State women's basketball team (2-2) closes out the odwalla Classic against tournament-host San Francisco (1-3) Sunday.

Tip-off against the Dons is slated for 2 p.m. at War Memorial Gym.

ON THE RADIO
Fans can listen to Saturday's game on KQQQ 1150 AM. Play-by-play man Steve Grubbs will call the game live from San Francisco.

LAST TIME OUT
Freshman Jazmine Perkins scored a game-high 28 points, but the Washington State University women's basketball team was unable to overcome a first-half deficit, falling to Northern Colorado 86-79 in the first round of the odwalla Classic at War Memorial Gym.

The 28 points scored by Perkins are tied for the most by a Cougar freshman in WSU NCAA women's basketball history. Nikki Mohr is the only other Cougar freshman to score 28 points in an NCAA game - 25 years ago against Puget Sound (Nov. 26, 1983).

The Cougars found themselves down at halftime for the first time this season. Sparked by an 8-of-12 shooting performance from the 3-point line, Northern Colorado carried a 47-27 lead into intermission. The Bears shot 65.4 percent from the floor in the first half, including 66.7 percent from the 3-point line, while the Cougars hit only 1-of-9 first half 3-point attempts, and shot only 32.4 percent from the field.

WSU outscored the Bears 52-39 in the second half, and turned the ball over only twice in the second stanza, but the 20-point deficit was too much to overcome. Two Cougar runs brought the Cougars back into the game, but the final margin of seven points was as close as the Cougars would get.

THE SERIES
This is the fifth meeting between the Cougars and Dons, though the teams haven't squared off since Feb. 2, 1985. After dropping each of the first two contests, the Cougars have won the last two meetings: 66-61 in 1984 and 66-56 in 1985.
