WAWAWAI LANDING, Wash. - The Washington State women's rowing team ruled the river in the final day's action of the Cougar Invitational Regatta at the Cougars home course at Wawawai Landing on the Snake River.
In varsity eight action Saturday, the 11th-ranked Cougars completed their sweep with defeats of Kansas State, UC Davis and Gonzaga after beating Stanford Friday afternoon.
WSU's junior varsity eight, first novice eight and varsity four crews were also winners Saturday.
Once again, the first two races of the morning were shortened from 2,000 meters to 1,500 meters due to the gusty winds and whitecaps at the starting line. The afternoon racing saw calm conditions with nearly glass-smooth water for the final races.
WSU does not compete next weekend but the Cougar novice teams will race at Wawawai Landing April 24, and the varsity boats row against California at Montlake Cut in Seattle Sunday, April 25.
