Directions to Wawawai Landing

What's Happening This Week: The No. 15 WSU varsity eight will look to increase its head-to-head winning streak against Washington to four this weekend against the No. 6 Huskies...WSU has only defeated the Huskies five previous times in program history...the dual regatta will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at Wawawai Landing on the Snake River.

WSU Head Coach Jane LaRiviere on racing at home: "We get so few opportunities to show friends and family what we do. It's great to showcase the Snake River and all our efforts."

2008 vs. Washington: Varsity eight defeated the Huskies on the Montlake Cut with a time of 6:16.41...the victory came one week after the Cougars finished four seconds behind the Huskies at the San Diego Crew Classic...second varsity eight, novice eight and varsity four each fell to UW in the head-to-head regatta.

LaRiviere's key to winning the race: "Belief. They have to believe in themselves. I believe they can."

Last Week: Last weekend the varsity eight, second varsity eight and novice eight squads competed at the San Diego Crew Classic...varsity eight took sixth place in the Jessop-Whittier Cup grand final...second varsity eight won the petite final by a 10-second margin...novice eight placed third in the Korholz Perpetual Trophy grand final...three crews also raced at the Husky Invitational in Seattle last Saturday.

Pac-10 Highly Ranked: All seven Pacific-10 rowing teams are ranked in the CRCA/U.S. Rowing Varsity Eight Top-20 Poll...the leader is No. 2 Stanford.

Next Week: The Cougars will travel to Griggs Reservoir in Columbus, Ohio to take on No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 Michigan State and No.12 Ohio State April 17 and 18.

Follow the Cougs: The Cougars can be followed all season long via the WSU Rowing blog, Tales from the Snake, which can be accessed HERE. Featured on the blog this week will be junior Erica Lewis giving her impressions from Saturday's race.
