COUGAR MEN RECEIVE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP BID
The Washington State men's cross country team was selected as an at-large team for the NCAA Championships November 21...Cougar men received one of the 13 at-large bids given to schools around the country based on performance at their respective regional meets and points scored against automatically qualified teams...this is the first Cougar cross country team to reach the national championships since the men received an at-large bid in 2006...there will be 31 seven-person teams competing...the Championships are to be held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Indiana...Indiana State University will host the Championships...a live webcast will be broadcasted from 9 to 10:30 a.m. PT on NCAA.com Monday...additionally, highlights of the championship races will be included in the CBS NCAA Fall Seasonal Show Saturday, December 18...the show is scheduled to air from 10 to 11 a.m. PT that day on CBS HD...results will be available on the official WSU Athletic website, wsucougars.com, when available post-race.
LEADING THE WAY
Cougar cross country head coach Pete Julian is in his third year coaching at WSU...this is Coach Julian's first team to go to the NCAA Championships at Washington State...he came to WSU after a highly successful career at Metropolitan State College of Denver...Julian is dedicated to recruiting talented young runners and developing training routines that lead each student-athlete to their highest potential...Tim Riley is the progam's volunteer assistant coach for the third year.

WASHINGTON STATE AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
The last Cougar cross country team to appear in the NCAA Championships was the 2006 men's team, which also received an at-large bid...they took 29th in the championships...the 1998 men's team also received an at-large berth in the NCAA Championships after their third place finish at West Regionals...the most recent individual Cougar representative in the national championships was Lisa Egami...she placed 129th in 2010...in 2005, Haley Paul went to the championships as an individual qualifier and placed 14th, the highest finish for any Cougar woman...the last time that an athlete from both the men's and women's team was selected to participate in the championships was in 2001 when Everlyne Lagat and Oscar Franco-Parra went as individuals...they finished 30th and 61st, respectively.
