Three Cougars Earn Pac-10 Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Senior Alke Dietel (Halle, Germany), junior Yvonne Volkman (Richland, Wash.) and freshman Kelley Berglund (Port Angeles, Wash.) each earned Pac-10 awards, the conference announced Sunday.

Dietel and Volkman were named All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention while Berglund was named to the Honorable Mention All-Freshman.

Dietel led the Cougars in scoring (13.6 ppg), fifth in the Pac-10 and rebounding (5.4 rpg), 15th in the conference. -- Dietel finished her career with 926 points, 13th all-time at WSU.

Volkman averaged 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per outing. -- In Pac-10 games, the junior averaged 10.2 points per game, including a season-high 18 points versus UCLA, March 9.

Berglund started five games for the Cougars and averaged 4.9 points and four rebounds per contest. -- She was one of 11 players in the Pac-10 to record a perfect day at the foul line (minimum eight attempts) with her 8-for-8 effort at Washington, February 6.
