PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State senior goalkeeper Brynn Bemis has been named Pacific-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 11-17, conference commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday.

A native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Bemis was named defensive MVP and goalkeeper MVP at the Notre Dame Inn at Saint Mary's Classic last week. She stopped seven shots in a 1-0 victory over No. 16 Oklahoma State Sept. 14 and made five saves in a 2-1 double-overtime win over Princeton Sept. 16. Against the Tigers, Bemis stopped a penalty kick in the game's 72nd minute to preserve a 1-1 tie.

The shutout was the ninth of her career, tying for fourth on the WSU all-time list. She raised her win total to 11, tied for sixth-best in Cougar history and moved her save total to 86, eighth on the WSU career list.

The award is the first for Bemis and marks the fifth time a Cougar has captured the honor. Goalkeeper Katie Hultin was named Pac-10 Player of the Week twice during the 2004 season.
