PULLMAN, Wash. - Three tournaments, including the Cougar Shootout at the Spokane Arena, highlight the 2000-01 Washington State women's basketball as announced Friday by head coach Jenny Przekwas.
The Cougar Shootout will be played December 8-9 at the Spokane Arena and will give fans a chance to witness women's collegiate basketball at the same venue that will play host the 2001 NCAA Women's West Regional to be held March 24 and 26.
Game times for the Cougar Shootout will be at 6 and 8 p.m. with the Cougars featured in the late game Friday, December 8.? The consolation game of the tournament will be played at 6 p.m. December 9 with the championship game scheduled to follow.
WSU will also play in two tournaments on the road this season including the Coca-Cola Classic, November 25-26 in Piscataway, N.J., hosted by 2000 Final Four participant Rutgers.? The Cougars play George Washington November 25 and either Vermont or Rutgers November 26.
The Cougars will also participate in the Lady Griz Holiday Classic in Missoula, Mont. - WSU plays Samford December 29 and either Robert Morris or host Montana December 30 to close out its non-conference season.
The remainder of the non-conference schedule includes the season-opener at American (Nov. 21), the home opener against BYU (Nov. 30) and home dates versus Idaho (Dec. 2) and Gonzaga (Dec. 17).
The Cougars open Pacific-10 conference action at home against USC (Jan. 4) and UCLA (Jan. 6).
