MOSCOW, Idaho - Jocelyn Jeffers scored two goals and Washington State dominated Idaho in a 5-1 victory at Guy Wicks Field, Sunday.

The Cougars (6-1-0) took a 1-0 lead just 23 seconds into the match when Jeffers intercepted a pass and fired a shot from 20 yards out that deflected off the far post and into the net. It was the earliest goal scored by a Cougar in Washington State history.

The Vandals (2-8-0) got even with a goal in the 19th minutes, but Washington State took the lead in the 27th minute. Micaela Castain gave the Cougars a 2-1 advantage, after receiving a long pass from Delaney Zalud, for her Pac-12 leading eighth goal of the season.

"We started off really well," Washington State Head Coach Keidane McAlpine said. "I was a little disappointed in the letdown when we gave up the goal. But, we settled down in the second half and claimed the game."

The Cougars outshot the Vandals 15-6 in the second half and added three goals. In the 51st minute, Mariah Cameron fed a pass up the left sideline to Brandi Vega who finished for her fourth goal of the season.

A Washington State corner kick in the 77th minute led to a failed clear by Idaho that resulted in an own goal and a 4-1 Cougar lead. Jeffers capped the scoring with a shot from the top of the box in the 83rd minute.

"I've just decided to go into a goal scoring mindset," Jeffers said. "Our movement off the ball and our team chemistry is getting a lot better."
