What's Happening This Week: The Washington State University women's rowing squad continues its fall season at the Head of the Lake Regatta hosted by the University of Washington Huskies, Sunday, Nov. 10, at 7 a.m. at Montlake Cut, Seattle. The Cougars will face California-San Diego, Michigan State, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Texas, Washington, and Western Washington. In addition, the second and third varsity eights will compete against the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria. The Cougars will also have a pairs race against the Huskies, Saturday, Nov. 9 at 8 a.m.

Lineup for Head of the Lake Regatta (in alphabetical order):

Cougar Varsity Eight Squad: Courtney Goodridge, Catherine Lortie, Corrie McGrath, Amber McKnight, Jamie Orth, Erin Patterson, Emily Tribe, and Naomi Turnbull.

Cougar Second Varsity Eight Squad: Laura Barnes, Kasia Bloch, Katie Dahlgren, Audra Durfey, Lori Maricle, Carolyn Oury, Emily Rains, Kelsey Wertzler, and Nicole Wright.

Cougar Third Varsity Eight Squad: Devon Carroll, Emily Collins, Debbie Curry, Cora Fix, May Lundberg, Angela Manson, Rosy Miller, Jenn Strickling, and Daiva Tacionyte.

WSU Head Coach Jane LaRiviere on Head of the Lake Regatta: "I'm really excited for the race. I want the team to race hard as well as have a lot of fun. Since it's our last event of the fall, it will hopefully provide motivation for the winter training."

What Happened Last Week: Cougar rowing took a week off from competition and focused on practices and scrimmages. The novice team scrimmaged against Gonzaga's novice squad Friday, Nov. 1 at Wawawai Landing. The varsity eight last competed Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Head of the Spokane Regatta. In the 7,000m varsity eight race, the Cougars captured first place rowing a time of 22:48 to Gonzaga's 23:12. The WSU junior varsity squad took third place at 23:16. Gonzaga captured the 7,000m novice eight race with a time of 25:43, to WSU's 26:59. In the 3,500m race, WSU's novice eight team (B) placed third with a time 13:44. Gonzaga's (B) squad finished first at 13:35 with their novice (C) team a second behind at 13:36. WSU's (C) and (D) squads captured fourth and fifth place.

Directions to Head of the Lake: From 520 Westbound (toward Seattle) exit Montlake Boulevard. Turn Right (north). Follow Montlake past the stadium, past Hec Ed Pavillion. Just past cement overpass to Hec Ed, take second drive to right toward Parking Lot and Boathouse

From I-5, take Eastbound 520, exit Montlake Blvd. Turn left at stop light Follow Montlake past the stadium, past Hec Ed Pavillion. Just past cement overpass to Hec Ed, take second drive to right toward Parking Lot and Boathouse It's the third right from overpass, the first two rights are a parking area for the ticket office.
