Washington State Rowing Completes Fall Season In Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. - Washington State University's crew team concluded their fall season with an overall strong performance Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Head of the Lake Regatta at Montlake Cut, Seattle.

Against tough competition, the varsity eight finished in the middle of the pack with a time of 17:50.91 in the 4800 meter race. Michigan State just beat out the University of Victoria for first place, with Virginia coming in a close third.

The Cougars' second varsity eight boat garnered a fourth place finish in their race, which consisted of eight teams. The squad finished with a time of 18:29.32, about forty seconds behind the winner, Washington. The University of Victoria and Oregon State rounded out the top four.

WSU's number three boat took fourth place as well, finishing behind Washington, Pocock Rowing Center, and Victoria with a time of 19:21.48.

Prior races took place Saturday, with three WSU pairs competing along with ten Washington duos in the annual pair's race. WSU's top pair finished third overall with a time of 21:31.0 in the 2000 meter race.

The Cougars will open the spring season Saturday, March 20, against Gonzaga.
