WAWAWAI LANDING, Wash. - The Washington Huskies swept Washington State in all races on both the men's and women's side Saturday afternoon in a rowing regatta at the Cougars home course at Wawawai Landing on the Snake River.
The UW women, two-time defending national champions and ranked first in the latest USRowing National Collegiate Rowing Coaches Poll, outdistanced the 11th-ranked WSU crew in the varsity eight and added victories in the junior varsity eight, both novice eight, and varsity four races as well.
The Husky men's crew, ranked third nationally, defeated the WSU men's club team in all four events on the 2,000 meters course on the Snake River, battling blustery winds and chilly temperatures. Approximately one and one-half inches of snow fell overnight in the Palouse prior to the race.
The WSU women host Stanford, Kansas State, UC Davis, and Gonzaga in dual racing at Wawawai Landing Friday, April 9, and Saturday, April 10.
