PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State junior Brooke Bemis has been named to the CoSIDA District VIII All-Academic third team. Bemis currently boasts a 3.85 grade point average as a history major at WSU.
Bemis appeared in 13 games for the Cougars during the 2006-07 season. Her only goal this year came in the season-opener against UNLV in WSU's 2-1 victory. She also assisted on a goal in the Cougars' 2-0 win over Idaho and posted seven shots on goal for the season.
As a sophomore, Bemis was named a 2005-06 Top 50 USAA Collegiate All-American Scholar Athlete and was selected to the 2005 WSU Athletics All-Academic Team. She was a member of the President's Honor Roll in both semesters of her freshman year.
The Cougars finished the regular season with an overall record of 9-7-4 and a Pac-10 conference record of 4-3-2 after recording a 1-0 victory over Arizona. The victory marked the tenth time this season that the Cougars have shut out an opponent, tying a school record. WSU also set the single-season record for fewest goals allowed with only 15 goals getting past the Cougar defensive line.
