The Washington State University's women's rowing team outstroked the Gonzaga Bulldogs for the second consecutive week Friday at the Head of the Snake.
In the first flight, the WSU women's varsity eight finished the 5,000 meter course with a time of 20:22.49. The crew was followed by a WSU second varsity eight crew that finished with a time of 20:29.75. The Gonzaga's varsity eight finished 13 seconds behind the second varsity eight with a finish time of 20:42.37. The Gonzaga second varsity eight crossed the finish line with a time of 21:04.87.
The novice eight and second novice eight crews for both teams also faced off in the first flight. WSU won both races with the novice eight finishing with a time of 22:50.19, 31 seconds of the Bulldogs. The second novice eight captured a huge victory, crossing the finish line more than four minutes ahead of GU.
The Cougar's third varsity eight and third novice also captured wins against their Gonzaga counterparts.
Gonzaga earned its first win in the fourth novice eight face-off, crossing the finish line a mere 28 seconds ahead of the Cougars.
Head coach Jane LaRiviere commented on the WSU hosted event. "We had great water today and it was a great afternoon," she said.
LaRiviere also said the team was looking forward to getting back to work on Monday in preparation for the Head of the Lake, Nov.11, at Seattle.
