PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State senior forward Brooke Bemis has been named Pacific-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 23-29, conference commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday.
A native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Bemis scored the Cougar goall in Washington State's 1-1 tie with Oregon Friday, Oct. 26 and added a tally in the Cougars' 2-1 victory over Oregon State Sunday, Oct. 28.
Bemis scored off a corner kick in the 85th minute against the Ducks to send the game into overtime. Against the Beavers, she netted an equalizer for WSU's first tally and the Cougars and tied Kiersten Dallstream for the team lead in goals with eight.
The award is the first for Bemis and marks the sixth time a Cougar has captured the honor. WSU goalkeeper Brynn Bemis, Brooke's twin sister, received the honor Sept. 18.
