WSU Tied for Fourth at Wolf Pack Classic

Stateline, Nev. - The Washington State University men's golf team finished tied for fourth after the first day of the University of Nevada Wolf Pack Classic, Monday. The Cougars posted a team score of 578 at the 54-hole tournament held at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

WSU finished tied for fourth with the San Francisco and sits ahead of teams from Wyoming, Sacramento State, Alabama-Birmingham, UC Santa Barbara, Utah State, Stephen F. Austin State, Idaho, Portland, Loyola Marymount and Hawaii. Leading the Cougars is redshirt freshman Kyle Hurt, currently tied for fifth shooting a 141 (-3) at the end of the first day.

"We played the last hole in the dark after an afternoon of rain and lightening delay, but we did get our 36 holes in," said WSU Head Coach Walt Williams. "I'm very proud of redshirt freshman Kyle Hurt and freshman Kent Hagen. They both played very well in the difficult weather conditions."

Also of note, three other Cougars finished in the top 30. Freshman Kent Hagen finished tied for 12th shooting a 143 (-1), junior Trent Sanders and senior Nick Ellis finish tied for 28th posting a 147 (+3) and redshirt junior Robert Murray sits tied for 74th posting a 160 (+16).

The Cougs will being the final round tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
