THIS WEEK: Washington State hosts Washington, Friday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m.

COUGARS NATIONALLY RANKED: Washington State is ranked nationally this week by the NSCAA (22nd)...fourth-straight week Cougars have been ranked in at least one poll this season and 11th under Matt Potter.

ABOUT WASHINGTON: The Huskies are 12-5-0 overall, 3-3-0 in the Pacific-10 Conference...currently in fourth place in the conference...ranked 21st nationally by Soccer Buzz...Veronica Perez leads Washington with 10 goals and 25 points.

COMMON OPPONENTS: Like the Cougars, Washington has wins this season over Montana and Gonzaga as well as a loss to Illinois in nonconference...in Pac-10 play, both Washington and Washington State have wins against California and Oregon and losses to UCLA and Stanford...Huskies lost to USC and beat Oregon State while the Cougars tied USC and lost to the Beavers.

SERIES WITH THE HUSKIES: The Cougars lead 8-7-2...WSU has won four straight...Cougars have won the last two meetings in Pullman and are 4-0-1 in the last five home matches during the series.

COUGARS AT HOME IN OCTOBER: Under Matt Potter, WSU is 12-3-3 (.750) at home in October...included is a 5-2-0 (.714) record against ranked opponents in Pullman.

LATE HEROICS: Freshman Tiara Pittman scored her first-collegiate game-winning goal when she found the net at 88:49 against California, Oct. 17...Pittman's goal gave up the Cougars a 2-1 victory over the 13th-ranked Golden Bears in front of 738 fans, the largest crowd in school history to see a WSU victory in Pullman...at Oregon, junior Carly Dobratz found the back of the net at 101:33 to give the Cougars a 2-1 double overtime victory...first Pac-10 road victory in overtime for WSU since a 1-0 double-overtime triumph at Oregon State, Oct. 11, 2002.

GET YOUR NAME IN THE BOX SCORE: Freshman Megan Chapin notched her first-collegiate point with an assist in the season opener at Montana, Aug. 22...sophomore Emma Stolz and freshman Ali Fenter each tallied the first goal of their respective collegiate careers in Washington State's 2-2 double-overtime tie at James Madison, Aug. 29...Jacquelyn Roth picked up her first-collegiate point with an assist, Sept. 28 against Idaho...Tiara Pittman tallied her first-collegiate goal in a 3-1 win over Eastern Washington, Oct. 3.

THE POTTER EFFECT: Prior to Matt Potter's arrival in Pullman, the Cougars posted three-winning records in eight seasons as a member of the Pacific-10 Conference...under Potter, WSU has produced four-winning records in five seasons.

COACHING MILESTONE: Matt Potter recorded the 53rd victory of his Cougar coaching career at Oregon, Oct. 24...victory surpassed Lisa Fraser (1989-93) for most wins by a WSU head coach.
