PALO ALTO, Calif. - Washington State's trio of freshmen starters each scored in double figures against seventh-ranked Stanford, but the Cardinal were victorious, knocking off WSU 102-53. The Cougars fell to 7-7 on the season and 0-3 in the Pacific-10 Conference, while Stanford improved to 13-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Jazmine Perkins and April Cook each scored 14 points to lead the Cougars, while Rosie Tarnowski added 10 points and a team-high five rebounds.

Entering today's match-up, Perkins' 14.6 points per game ranked fourth in the Pac-10 and first among conference freshmen. Cook's 13.7 points per game rank second among conference freshmen and seventh in the Pac-10.

Stanford opened the game on a 9-0 run before freshman forward Rosie Tarnowski ended the Cougar scoring drought 3-minutes, 17-seconds into the game with an eight foot jumper. WSU was able to weather the first Cardinal run, as freshman guard Danielle LeNoir keyed an 8-0 stretch for the Cougars, hitting two 3-pointers and getting WSU back to within three at 13-10 (13:35).

Stanford's second run of the first half built as much as a 28-point lead, and the Cougars were unable to overcome the deficit.

After three games on the road to kick off the Pac-10 portion of their 2008-09 schedule, the Cougars return home to face Oregon State (Jan. 15) and Oregon (Jan. 17) .
