PORTLAND, Ore. - Washington State's Marisa Stotler led the Cougars with 13 points, in a losing effort as the Cougars fell to Portland 67-56, Wednesday, at the Chiles Center. Stotler also pulled down 11 rebounds for the Cougars.

The Cougars drop to an overall record of 1-3, while the Pilots improve to 4-1 on the season.

The final 20 minutes proved to be the toughest for the Cougars. Portland went on an 11-2 run to begin the half to give them a 41-30 advantage at the 15:34 mark. The Pilots kept the deficit around double digits throughout the rest of the game. The Pilots finished the game with 23 free throws sinking 21 of them.

The Cougars trailed at the half 30-28 after shooting 31 percent from the field. WSU went down by as many eight points, but a Katie Appleton 3-pointer sparked a 7-0 run and got the Cougars within one point at 23-22. Appleton finished with 11 points for the Cougars.

The other Cougar to finish in double digits was freshmen Nakejia Kelly with 12 points.

The Cougar defense proved to be strong once again forcing 25 Portland turnovers.

Portland's Rachel Warren led four Pilots in double figures with 14 points. Laiken Dollente added 13 points, Allyson Sievers had 11 and Laura Thomas finished with 10.

The Cougars return to action finishing their two game road trip, Saturday Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. against the Santa Clara Broncos.
