PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University senior rower Corina Chilibeck has been named to the ESPN The Magazine All-District VIII Academic At-Large Second Team as voted on by members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A native of Victoria, British Columbia, Chilibeck has a 3.64 grade point average and is majoring in bioengineering. She is in her second season as the coxswain for the varsity eight and her fourth with Cougar varsity rowing.
This season she piloted WSU's varsity eight to victories over Oregon State and Washington, along with a third-place finish at the Lake Natoma Invite. Currently ranked 14th in the country, WSU was selected to compete in the NCAA Championships May 28-31 at Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.
Last season Chilibeck earned CRCA National Scholar-Athlete and Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic First Team accolades. She received Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team honors as a sophomore in 2008.
The women's at-large category includes student-athletes participating in bowling, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, rowing , skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.
The Cougars finished sixth at the Pac-10 Championships at Lake Natoma May 16 and will return to the site for the NCAA Championships next week.
