Compliance Coordinator

Washington State University is accepting applications for the position of Athletic Compliance Coordinator. This position is responsible for monitoring compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Pac-12 Conference, and Washington State University bylaws, rules, and regulations, regarding recruiting, eligibility, and admissions. Must be able to interpret and apply complicated rules to a broad range of situations. Must work easily and effectively with students, coaches and administrators.

Minimum qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Preferred qualifications: Advanced degree in a related field. One year employment or equivalent experience with NCAA compliance. Strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, LSDBI, Compliance Assistant Software, ACS or other relevant software. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division I and Pac-12 rules. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups. Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure and the ability to meet deadlines. Demonstrated work-related experiences that require strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.

Sport Administrative Assistant

Washington State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is accepting applications for the position of Sport Administrative Assistant (Administrative Assistant 3). This position is responsible for functioning as the administrative assistant for any sports or programs assigned and serving as the primary point of operational and administrative contact for internal and external constituencies including student athletes, prospective student athletes, parents, staff, and the general public, often on complex and confidential issues. The position performs and/or oversees a variety of administrative, fiscal, staff support, recruiting and planning activities, some of which require advanced or specialized knowledge or skills, such as specialized record-keeping and database management, NCAA Compliance, student athlete recruiting and collegiate sports participation rule and regulation and specified information-gathering projects and tasks that require independent judgment, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity. Must be able to interpret and apply complicated rules and regulations, as they apply to all aspects of the position in accordance with NCAA, Pac-12, State, University and departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Must work easily and effectively with coaches, staff and administrators.

Minimum qualifications: High School graduation or equivalent AND three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in office/clerical, secretarial, bookkeeping, accounting, or general administrative work; OR equivalent education/experience. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex rules and regulations specific to a particular industry or environment.

Preferred qualifications: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail and Outlook. Demonstrated understanding of the culture and organization of Intercollegiate Athletics. Experience working in a higher education setting. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and perform sound decision-making in both low and high intensity environments. Knowledge and understanding of applicable rules and regulations, including State of Washington, Washington State University, Athletic Department, NCAA, and Pac-12 Conference.
