Eldridge And Hohmann Grab Wins At No. 13 Nevada

January 30, 1999

RENO, Nev. - Junior Erin Eldridge and senior Anna Hohmann picked up first place victories for the Cougars in a dual meet versus No. 13 Nevada at the Lombardi Recreation Center pool.

Eldridge, a native of Kirkland, Wash., dominated the meet's breaststroke events, beating her nearest opponent by more than two seconds in each. The 1997-98 NCAA qualifier clocked in a time of 1 minute, 4.47 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke and a 2:21.80 in the 200.

Hohmann, a native of Wodonga, Australia and the school record holder in the 100 backstroke, won the event with a time of 59.12 seconds.

The nationally ranked Wolf Pack handed WSU its fifth all-time loss by a margin of 160.50-98.50. The Cougars are now 1-5 against Nevada.

In relay competition, WSU turned in a season best time of 1:47.34 in the 200-medley relay.

The Cougars (4-6) will head down to Corvallis, Ore. for a two-day dual meet against Oregon State Feb. 5-6 to wrap up the regular season.
