FRESHMAN (1996-97): Indoor - Solid rookie showing...started season with pr time of 7.08 in 55m dash at EWU Early Bird Open (1/18/97, Cheney)...snagged a 200m school indoor record at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation meet prelims with a time of pr of 24.45i (2/22/97, Reno)...the next day, junior Tamika Brown took the record back winning the finals at 24.24i while Higgins was second with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 24.37i, top freshman indoor time in the 200m...Outdoor - Had an outstanding spring...ran 100m pr time of 11.81w at both Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Invite (3/15/97) and the next week at Stanford Invitational prelims (3/22/97), the fourth best time in school records...finished fourth at Stanford (11.88)...won 100m at all five dual meets...200m pr of 24.34 came at Cougar Invitational (3/29/97, Pullman), fifth best in school history...lead leg of WSU's school record 400m relay team (44.97, 4/5/97, Pullman)...triple winner (100m, 200, 400m relay) at Oregon, Idaho dual (4/5/97, Pullman) and again at Pepsi Invitational (4/19/97, Eugene)...at Pac-10 meet finished third in 100m (12.02), did not make finals in 200m, but was second in 400m relay...named team track MVP.
