Venue to host WSU vs. Eastern Washington men's basketball tilt.

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Athletics director Rick Dickson announced Friday morning that in December Washington State University will, for the first time in 18 years, play a regular season men's basketball game in the Tri-Cities area.
Washington State has secured the Tri-Cities Coliseum as the site of the Cougars' Dec. 22 contest with Eastern Washington University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. PST.
"Tri-Cities has always been good to the entire athletic department and this is just one way to pay back all of our fans and boosters in the area," said Cougar head coach Kevin Eastman. "Basketball, unlike football, has an easier time moving games to other cities because we have more games with which to work."
Eastman added, "As a coach, I hope we are supported every bit as much there as when we play a game in Beasley Coliseum (in Pullman). Ultimately, fan support will determine potential return trips."
The WSU-EWU contest will be just the third Cougar regular season game played in the Tri-Cities area and the first game ever at Kennewick. The other two matches, both played at Richland, came during George Raveling's coaching tenure at Washington State. The Cougars defeated Eastern Montana (84-55) Dec. 29, 1979 and beat Pacific Lutheran (74-68) Nov. 27, 1976.
