PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State tennis player Erica Perkins has been selected to the Pac-10 All-Conference second team and is the first Cougar to receive such recognition.
The sophomore from Seattle, Wash. has compiled a career record of 39 singles victories in the last two seasons. She also gained her highest career singles ranking to date at No. 32 in the nation according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings released Tuesday.
In the fall, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) named Perkins as its selection for the 1998 Pacific Northwest Women's Player of the Year.
Perkins and doubles teammate Sarah Burrows (Lakewood, Colo.) also rank among the nation's top 50 doubles teams at 48th. In team rankings, Washington State is currently No. 31 and awaits the NCAA committee's selection for postseason bids Wednesday, May 5.
