PORTLAND, Ore.- The Washington State University women's tennis team defeated the Portland Pilots this afternoon, 7-0. The victory puts the Cougars at a 12-10 overall record, 0-7 in the Pacific-10 conference.

WSU won the first point with a sweep of the doubles matches. No. 76 Liudmila Vasilieva and Ksenia Googe defeated Sabine and Stephanie Fuchs 8-4. The No. 2 match was an 8-3 victory for Andjela Kankaras and Olga Musilovich over Alice Tucker and Beate Valdmane. At No. 3 Elisabeth Fournier and Lea Jansen beat Valeska Hoath and Gabrielle Gorence 8-6.

The Cougars also swept through the singles matches. Vasilieva defeated S. Fuchs at No. 1 7-5, 6-0. Fournier took the No. 2 match 6-0, 6-0 over Alice Tucker. Kankaras won the No. 3 match over Hoath 6-1, 6-3. At No. 4 Googe beat Valdmane 6-1, 6-0. Olga Musilovich defeated Gorence 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. At No. 6 Jessica Gomez won 6-2, 6-0 over Emily Mahaires.

Washington State will travel to Eugene tomorrow to face the Oregon Ducks in their regular season and Pac-10 finale. The match begins at noon.
