Cougar Women Finish Second in Opening Tournament

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Washington State women's golf team started the season with a second place finish at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic Tuesday, at the par 72, 6,223-yard Ptarmigan Country Club.

Junior Amy Eneroth finished as the top competitor for the Cougars, ending the tournament tied for ninth place at 5-over par (221). Close behind in a tie for 14th were junior Jessica Black, senior Tracy Broders and sophomore Diana Hong who all finished at 6-over (222). Senior Brooke Henderson rounds out the Cougar scorers in a tie for 64th.

Eneroth's ninth place finish puts her at a tie for third all time for career top-10 finishes (12) and at sixth place for top-25 finishes (18).

After the first two rounds of competition, the Cougars were in third place and only one shot out of second. The Cougar women persevered and finished four strokes ahead of Brigham Young for second place. California won the tournament at 4-over.

As a team the Cougars' combined total of 294 was good for the second-lowest round of the day and the fifth-lowest round of the tournament. The Cougar women finished the three-day tournament with a total score of 887.

The women will be back in action Monday, Sept. 17, when they travel to Corvallis, Ore., to compete in the Giustina Memorial.
