PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University Head Coach Lisa Hart has signed Liza Leenknecht to National Letters of Intent for the 2012-13 season, it was announced Wednesday.

"I am thrilled that Lize will be joining our Cougar Family," said Hart. "Lize will immediately contribute on the court while also bringing a positive attitude and optimistic approach to training that will be contagious among our team members. I am excited for Lize to arrive to Pullman and start competing in a Cougar uniform."

Leenknecht, a native of Kortrijk, Belgium, is ranked No. 26 in Belgium and the top-ranked played in her province of West Flanders. The past two years she has competed in ITF tournaments throughout Europe, reaching the doubles semifinals in Madrid in 2010. This past July she reached the round of 16 in an ITF event in Belgium where she defeated Norway's Ulrikke Eikeri, who has achieved a WTA world ranking as high as 481.

Leenknecht plans to enroll at WSU next fall.
