PULLMAN, Wash. - Three Washington State tennis players were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete All Americans for 2000, including Melissa Pine who earned the honor for the second straight year.

The award goes to a player who is a junior or senior, a varsity letterwinner and at a grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.00 scale.

Pine, who finished her career at WSU with 64 singles wins, third best in Cougar history, posted a 3.72 cumulative GPA in international business.

Moniek van de Ven and Erica Perkins, both juniors last season, were also recipients of the honor.

The 47 career singles wins for van de Ven are tied for 10th all-time at WSU. She has a 3.66 cumulative GPA in philosophy.

Perkins, who missed most of last season with an injury, has 44 career singles wins and a 3.93 cumulative GPA in history.

Only three other WSU women's tennis players have earned this award, and 2000 marked the first time three players received the accolade in the same year.
