Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Washington State University dropped a 79-57 decision at No. 11/13 Ohio State University Thursday evening.

Junior forward Carly Noyes led the Cougars (6-6) with 15 points while senior guard Jazmine Perkins notched WSU's first double-double of the season with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Freshman guard Tia Presley finished with 10 points, all in the first half

Ohio State improved its record to 13-0 after shooting 45.2 percent in the second half and using a 15-1 run midway through the second half to pull away from the Cougs who were held to 29.0 percent shooting in the final 20 minutes.

The Cougs, playing their fourth ranked opponent of the season, built an early 11-5 lead on a 7-0 run, receiving jumpers from redshirt-sophomore Ireti Amojo, senior guard April Cook and an old-fashioned three-point play from Perkins. Following a couple OSU buckets, Presley caught fire, scoring WSU's next eight points on a driving layup and two long three's from the top of the arc. The second trey opened up a five point lead for the Cougs with 8:55 remaining.

Noyes later followed two Buckeye baskets with back-to-back layins of her own. Ohio State continued to knock down shots, eventually taking a 32-30 lead before Perkins came off a screen and hit a long three from the left wing.

OSU closed the half with a 6-0 spurt to build a five point lead and take a 40-35 lead into the half. The Buckeyes shot 43.3 percent through the first 20 minutes as the Cougs received 10 points each from Noyes and Presley.

The Cougs used a Perkins three to pull within 43-40 early in the second half but the Buckeyes answered right back with a three and slowly began to pull away. OSU produced a 7-0 spurt then followed a Perkins layup with a 15-1 run to open up a 68-45 advantage and never look back.

Ohio State finished the game shooting 44.3 percent and scored 24 points off of 18 WSU turnovers. The Cougs shot 33.8 percent from the floor and owned a 45-40 rebound advantage while the Buckeyes committed just nine turnovers.

Washington State returns from the holiday break next week, opening Pac-12 Conference play at University of Oregon Dec. 29 and Oregon State University Dec. 31.

GAME NOTES Perkins registers her fifth career double-double and first of the season for the Cougs...Perkins scored 11 points to up her career total to 1,115, good for ninth place on WSU's all-time career scoring list...Perkins 15 rebounds are a career-high.
