AUSTIN, Texas -- Washington State University's Eric Dudley qualified for the final in the men's 400m hurdles Thursday at the 76th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. He was the only Cougar to compete in the second day of the four-day meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Dudley, a redshirt senior All-American hurdler from Bellingham, Wash., ran his preliminary heat in 52.25 seconds, the sixth-fastest time among the 56 competitors in the prelims. He has already reached an NCAA Regional Qualifying time this season by winning the Stanford Invitational in a time of 51.19. Fred Sharpe, a senior from Auburn, ran the top prelim time of 50.62. Dudley will run the intermediate hurdles final Saturday afternoon.
Monique Jessie, junior transfer from Compton, Calif., did not qualify for the women's 400m hurdles final. Jessie ran a prelim time of 1:01.82 Friday, 16th out of the 58 competitors. Her NCAA RQ time of 1:01.36 was run at Tucson last month. Raasin McIntosh, a junior from Texas, ran the top prelim time of 57.71 Thursday.
Washington State will have many more participants competing Friday at the Texas Relays.
