THIS WEEK: The Washington State University women's tennis team continues its homestand hosting Eastern Washington Friday, Feb.3 with the match beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Hollingbery Fieldhouse.

ABOUT EASTERN WASHINGTON: The Eagles opened the dual-match season Jan. 28 playing Seattle University at the Spokane Club in Spokane, Wash. Seattle defeated EWU 4-3.

PRESEASON RANKINGS: Junior Liudmila Vasilieva earned a national ranking of 101 and a Northwest Regional ranking of 17 after finishing the fall season 10-1. Freshman Elizaveta Luzina, garnered a No. 123 national ranking following her first fall season of competition and posted a 9-1 record. Senior Elisabeth Fournier earned a Northwest Region ranking of 20 after finishing 9-2.

FOURNIER PAC-12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Washington State senior Elisabeth Fournier has been named Bank of the West Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week for January 23-29. Fournier became the school's all-time wins leader last Friday as the Cougars defeated Seattle and Portland State in Pullman. Fournier recorded her 90th and 91st career wins, passing current WSU assistant coach Ekaterina Burduli's all-time record of 90. After two more matches Saturday, Fournier extended her total to 93 career wins.

COUGARS IN THE COMMUNITY: The Washington State University women's tennis team will host its seventh annual free clinic Wednesday, Feb. 1 in honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The clinic will be held at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Racquets and balls will be provided for participants. This will be the second week in a row that the Cougars have held a free clinic. The Cougars hosted a free clinic, Saturday Jan. 21, raising money and collecting donated racquets for the Starehe Boys Center School in Kenya. The clinic raised $495 for the center.

COACH HART: Washington State's Lisa Hart is in the ninth season as head coach of the Cougars. Hart is the second coach in Cougars history to surpass 100 wins, she currently sits with 108. In December, Coach Hart was named the regional winner of the United State Tennis Association and Intercollegiate Tennis Association Sectional Campus and Outreach Award for the Pacific Northwest Section.

FALL SEASON SUCCESS: Entering the 2012 season, eight Cougars finished the fall portion of the schedule with a winning record. In the season opening tournament, seven Cougars captured first place at the Kansas Invitational; senior Fournier, junior Vasilieva, junior Andjela Kankaras, junior Ksenia Googe, freshman Luzina, freshman Charlotte Koning and freshman Anastasia Romantsova. In the only home tournament of the fall, three players took first place at the Cougar Classic; Vasilieva, Googe and Luzina. Fournier had a strong showing at the ITA Northwest Regional held at Stanford Oct. 21-25, making it to the fourth round of play.

NEXT UP: The Cougars will take on No. 48 Sacramento State Feb. 11 in the Hollingbery Fieldhouse at 4 p.m.
