SHENZHEN, China - Jeshua Anderson ran the fastest time among the 33 competitors in the men's 400m hurdles preliminary heats at the 2011 World University Games (WUG) in Shenzhen, China, Wednesday.
Anderson, from Woodland Hills, Calif., and a WSU senior last year, ran in the first of five heats and finished in a time of 49.78 seconds. The second-fastest time in the prelims was run by Michael Bultheel of Belgium, a time of 49.87 seconds. Twenty-four men advanced to the intermediate hurdles semifinals scheduled for Thursday evening, Aug. 18. Anderson is the only USA team member in this event.
The track and field events, internationally called athletics, take place in the Main Stadium of Universiade Center in Shenzhen. There is a 15-hour time difference between Pacific Time and Shenzhen time.
