PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University women's tennis team announced it 2011-12 schedule today, highlighted by a conference schedule that includes eight teams that finished last season ranked among the top 50 nationally and nonconference tournaments in Kansas and Hawaii.
WSU begins its fall season by traveling to the Kansas Invitational, Sept. 16, one of three tournaments on the fall schedule. Following Kansas WSU will host the Cougar Classic (Sept. 23-25) and the Northwest Regional tournament at Stanford (Oct. 21-25).
"This is a competitive schedule as 11 teams were ranked at the end of last season ," said WSU Head Coach Lisa Hart. "With the experience of our returning players and a talented incoming class, I think we can have a great deal of success this season."
The spring schedule begins with three matches in Hawaii (Jan. 12-14) following by a eight-match homestand at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse. WSU will play 17 matches in Pullman this season, seven of those coming against Pac-12 Conference opponents. Colorado (Mar. 30) and Utah (Apr. 1) will make their debut in Pullman as Pac-12 members while the conference schedule concludes Apr. 15 against Washington.
