WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Washington State University heptathlete Diana Pickler was honored as the Women's Field Athlete of the Week (April 4-10) for the Pacific-10 Conference outdoor track and field.
Pickler, a redshirt sophomore from, Sachse, Texas, was honored for winning the heptathlon at the Texas Relays with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark and personal-best 5492 points. Her point total leads the nation and is the second-best mark by an American woman this year. She had the top mark in four of the seven events, including a personal-best in the 200m (24.61), an NCAA Regional Qualifying time in the 100m hurdles (13.74), and a personal-best in the javelin (130-8/39.82).
Other student-athletes honored in the first week of the Pac-10 Athlete of the Week honors: Virginia Powell, USC, women's track, for her 12.70 100m hurdles; John Rankin, UCLA, men's track, for his 3:57.89 mile; and Trevell Quinley, ASU, men's field, for his 26-9 3/4 long jump.
